Trip to the Wine Country

Summer of 2019 ~ The Wine Country

Northern California's wine region is beautiful. The wine valleys set amongst rolling hills is a site to see. Arriving in San Francisco, driving over the Golden Gate Bridge, and continuing north to Napa Valley was an exciting beginning to a trip I will never forget.

I flew in from Los Angeles and met my mom at the hotel who flew in from New Jersey. Day one began with a winery that was hosting a Bastille Day party. The wine, the scenery, and the festivity was a great start. Of course, my mom and I walked around the shop too, to see what we could purchase. Instantly an engraved cutting board of the Wine Country region stood out to me. We thought; no lets wait, we can always get it at another winery. But we had to get it, even though it was just the first stop. And thank goodness we did because we did not see the cutting board ANYWHERE else! It is now on display above the bar in the kitchen.

My favorite winery was Castillo Di Amorosa, the castle of love. Filled with history and looking like it was out of a fairytale, my mom started asking the tour guide about having my wedding there. (Not even dating anyone but okay?) At the end of the tour and tasting, we ordered a case to be shipped home!

The biggest part of the trip was the Napa Valley Wine Train. A pretty penny, but so worth it. We took a train through the region and stopped at three wineries for a tour and more tastings! If ever visiting Napa, consider the wine train. An extensive lunch is included as well as a knowledgable tour guide.

Apart from the wineries and tastings, we shopped and explored the cute towns. We were told to try a mud bath which was famous in Calistoga. I am definitely never doing that again, I felt gross, but I guess I can say I did it lol! We ate at great restaurants and laid by the pool in the sun. The trip was different from the usual beach vacations, but it was an amazing experience and a lot of fun for a memorable mother daughter time!
